Chelsea Marshall
Chelsea Marshall, 23, of Pittsfield comes from a family of diehard skiers. Her brother Jesse was a member of the U.S. Team, and Cody, also a ski team athlete, is recovering from a serious brain injury he suffered last fall. Younger brother Tucker is also a racer, and mom Barb is an instructor at Killington.
Just after being named to the 2010 Vancouver team, Marshall finished 10th in a downhill at St. Moritz – the second-best result of her career. After an injury cut her season short last year, she had found her form again with solid results in Haus im Ennstal and St. Moritz, just in time for the final Olympic push. An early bloomer in the World Cup speed world, Marshall has all the skills and ability to be a constant factor in the World Cup top 10, but it may take confidence from an incredible Olympic result to propell that lauch pad. With Lindsey Vonn, Julia Mancuso, Leanne Smith and Alice McKennis all racing speed at the Olympics, she’ll be in good company.
