Jacobellis takes X Games gold

Saturday was a sweet day for a handful of Vermont women competing around the globe.
Stratton’s Lindsey Jacobellis won the women’s snowboardcross at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo. You can check out the video of her final heat here. Jacobellis trailed out of the start, but managed to pull ahead halfway though a tough, technical course. From there she rode smart, holding her line and pumping speed wherever she could. The gold is her third at the X Games.

In women’s halfpipe, hometown rider Gretchen Beiler took top honors, but Kelly Clark and Hannah Teter were second and third respectively. The X Games sweep for Team USA will boost confidence as time ticks down to Vancouver.

In Alpine skiing Chelsea Marshall was 10th in a dowhnill at St.Moritz, Switzerland. The result was the best of her season so far, and her second best career performance in a World Cup.
